BRIERY HOMES £2000 CASH WIN FOR LONGTOWN COMMUNITY GROUPS
Two Longtown sports groups received a total of £2000 from Briery Homes as winners of the Community Challenge competition organised by the house builder to show its commitment to building a great community at The Oaks new homes development.
Longtown Football Club collected the top prize of £1500 while Longtown Indoor Bowling Club received £500 at the Memorial Hall Community Centre.
Alison Tuddenham entered the competition on behalf of Longtown FC and was presented with the cheque by Briery Homes Sales Director David Robinson. Alison said: “The club is absolutely delighted to have won. The money will be used to buy equipment including new portable goal posts for the club’s three adult teams and four youth teams in the town.”
The chairman of the Indoor Bowling Club Roger Wise submitted its successful entry and member Verna Fox collected the cheque on behalf of the club. Roger explained: “We have about 40 active members in and around Longtown and meet twice a week at the Memorial Hall. Many of them are quite elderly, so the money will help meet the costs of mechanical aids to help roll , and a new indoor bowls playing surface . Winning the cash was great news.”
For Briery Homes, David Robinson commented: “We were pleased to have two such worthy winners. The range of almost a dozen groups which took part, from a toddlers’ group and girl guides to a cricket club and youth project, demonstrates the strong community spirit that exists in Longtown, and we are determined that The Oaks will become an integral part of that community.”
The competition challenged groups to answer questions about the development of one, two and three bedroom stylish and energy efficient new homes being built at The Oaks. Briery Homes currently provides low deposit shared equity mortgage deals as well as part exchange and other offers designed to help purchasers move into the comfort of a new home at The Oaks.
